Welcome to the SmartModernArt Banksy canvas
collection. Contemporary and cool Banksy canvas art of exceptional quality and
unbeatable price.
Banksy is a well-known
pseudo-anonymous English graffiti artist. He is believed to be a native of Yate
(near Bristol) and born in 1974, but there is still substantial public
uncertainty about his identity, personal and biographical details.
Always striking sometimes humorous and occasionally combined with slogans. His
art sends out messages of culture, ethics, politics and is usually anti-war,
anti-establishment, anti-capitalist or pro-freedom. His street art which
combines graffiti with a distinctive stencilling technique, has appeared in many
cities around the world.
Banksy's fusion
of graffiti and stencil art with pop art has become the new "it" thing in the
art world. His art isn't held inside any "main street museum" either, its on the
streets, factory walls and bus stops: a part of the world they were inspired by.
An original Banksy work
including the wall it was painted on is for sale on eBay for a 'buy it now'
price of £1 million. The controversial guerrilla graffiti artist has put
the stencilled wall up for sale on the website with a starting price of £1. It
portrays a stencilled image of a French painter, complete with beret, scrawling
Banksy's name. The 10ft x 7ft picture suddenly appeared on the wall one Sunday
morning in Portobello Road, London, while the market was on. Apparently no one
took any notice of it at the time. It has now become such a popular
attraction, with thousands of people flocking to see it, that Banksy has had it
covered in protective glass. He told the Metro newspaper: "I could never
justify owning a piece of art worth that much." Banksy's controversial
image does not seem to be harming sales of his work as it continues to soar in
value. His ongoing battle with London authorities, Tower Hamlets and Camden,
regarding whether his stencils should be removed from council property, has also
not done him a disservice regarding publicity.
